The NOVA 2001 Central Processing Unit
CPU2001-3 is the key central component of the NOVA2001 PA system. Constructed using PC
compatible processors, the CPU2001-3 offers a wide range of features.
The built-in proprietary utility board allows watchdog
facility, intelligent interface with the monitor and keyboard, dedicated interface for the Digital
Audio Matrix (MTX2001) and Input/Output Board (IBR2001), software key-lock protection, overall
control, stable, real-time multi-tasking and true 32-
bit operating system based on Linux.
The interconnection with other NOVA 2001 systems occurs via a TCP/IP network layer with
standard Ethernet 10/100 BaseT interface. These features allow easy interface with external
networks and long range remote control capability.
The audio board allows sound generation and/or reproduction of tones and speech messages,
recorded and played at FM radio quality, and stored in standard WAV format on the hard disk.
The user can easily record a wide selection of
messages. One minute of recording requires approximately 1 Mbyte of hard disk space;
therefore, the number of messages allowed is determined by the total hard drive memory
available. The standard system configuration can handle up to 24 hours of message time.
